<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nickel oxide powder which has a low chlorine grade and is minute and suitable as an electronic component material, and to provide an industrially stable method for producing the nickel oxide powder. <P>SOLUTION: Nickel hydroxide is obtained by neutralizing an aqueous solution of mixed nickel salts composed of at least one oxo acid nickel salt selected from nickel carbonate, nickel nitrate and nickel phosphate, and nickel chloride to pH 8.3-9.0 with an alkali, and the nickel oxide powder is obtained by cleaning the obtained nickel hydroxide and subsequently heat-treating the cleaned nickel hydroxide in a nonreducing atmosphere at a temperature of 700-950°C. The obtained nickel oxide powder has a specific surface area of 5.5 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g or more, and a chlorine content of 100 mass ppm or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
