They may be prepared by reacting a methacrylic acid alkyl ester oxygen and acetic acid in the gas phase at a temperature of from 50-250‹ C. in the presence of a palladium metal catalyst containing at least one alkali metal acetate. The catalyst may also contain at least one metal or metal compound from the fifth to the eighth group of the Mendeleev Periodic System and/or gold and/or copper. |
