An object of the invention is to appropriately filter text data. A filtering device 120 includes a table update unit 180 that extracts caption data or program information included in a program stream, divides the caption data or the program information into morphemes, registers the morphemes in an allowed word table 200, and updates the number of appearances, a data acquiring unit 182 that acquires arbitrary text data, and a data processing unit 184 that divides the arbitrary text data into morphemes, replaces a divided morpheme with a predetermined symbol when the divided morpheme has not been registered in the allowed word table, or when the divided morpheme has been registered in the allowed word table, but the number of appearances corresponding to the morpheme is less than a predetermined first threshold value, and recombines the morphemes into text data ( FIG. 2 ).
