<p>Proteinaceous materials present in sludges, e.g. preclarified-, excess- and/or activated sludge from waste water treatment on clarifying basins, are denatured before concn. or dehydration, pref. in acid medium esp. with subsequent or simultaneous heating. Products are neutralised if necessary, before or after dehydration. The proteinaceous sludges are pref. dehydrated untreated in a first step and effluent slurries are freed from solid after protein denaturing in second step. Sludges which are not completely flocculated after protein denaturing may be dehydrated, opt. after addn. of flocculating material.</p> |
