The rail (1) has a carrier body (2) comprising a side (3) that faces a traction unit i.e. belt, and another side (4) that faces away from the traction unit. A channel (5) is defined through the carrier body from an aperture (6) in the latter side to another aperture (7) in the latter side by a material of the carrier body, where the channel is lateral openly decorated. A hose (9) is located in the channel, where the hose has a circular cross section to receive an engine oil dipstick. The hose is held in the channel in a form fit manner. An independent claim is also included for a traction drive.
