A mobile terminal and a method with an image processing function are provided to display a second image automatically in a background area of a first image in an idle image, thereby displaying the second image without key manipulation of a terminal user. A mobile terminal and a method with an image processing function comprise the following steps of: detecting a foreground area and a background area of a first image; and displaying a second image in a largest position among background areas among the detected areas. The second image display step comprises the following steps of; detecting edge information of each pixel related to an arbitrary area corresponding to a size of a second image in the first image(S210); adding each pixel edge information detected in an arbitrary area(S220); and displaying an area with the smallest value in the added edge information about an arbitrary area(S230). |
