<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for connecting a sewage main pipe and a branch pipe, which allows for easy operation in a short operation time, achieving excellent cut-off performance. <P>SOLUTION: A structure for connecting a sewage main pipe and a branch pipe comprises a body packing 2 which is made of rubber to be inserted in a mounting hole 11 of the sewage main pipe 1 and has a lip part 23, a support plate 3 made of metal which is installed to the body packing 2, a resin socket 4 having a small-diameter cylindrical part 42 inserted in a tapered cylindrical part 21 and a leg part 43 placed on a flat ring 32, a pawl 5 having a recessed streak-shaped fitting part fitted to a protruded streak-shaped fitting part of the resin socket 4 with a pawl press-in tool 6, and a branch pipe which is watertightly connected to the resin socket 4.
