An assembly method, a determination method, a diameter determination method and a determination device for a positioning member which are capable of suppressing increases in the number of components and in working process steps, and a measurement device for measuring the amount of backlash in the axial direction of a hole-side workpiece. An assembly method for a positioning member comprises: a shaft-side workpiece measuring step of measuring the diameters at at least one position of shaft portions of a plurality of pulley shafts; a hole-side workpiece measuring step of measuring the diameters at positions corresponding to the shaft portions of hole portions of a plurality of movable pulley half bodies; a matching step of setting a combination of a pair of desired pulley shaft and movable pulley half body from among the measured plurality of pulley shafts and plurality of movable pulley half bodies; a backlash amount measuring step of measuring the amount of relative backlash between the pulley shaft and the movable pulley half body while the pulley shaft and the movable pulley half body are fitted to each other without mounting a roller bearing after the matching step; and a positioning member assembling step of assembling a predetermined roller bearing to a spline when it is confirmed that the amount of backlash is within an appropriate range.
