One embodiment of the meter (106) comprises one or more metrology sensors (402); a non-isolated power supply (414); a processor (404); and a network interface (408) having a section of fiber optic cable (302), wherein the processor (404) is operably connected to the one or more metrology sensors (402) and the network interface (408) having a section of fiber optic cable (302), wherein the non-isolated power supply (414) provides any power used by the processor (404), the one or more metrology sensors (402), and the network interface (408), and wherein the section of fiber optic cable (302) is used to connect the meter (106) to a network (110).</p> |
