<p>Electro-optical processing of signals is effected by a semiconductor component with a guide layer (14) for guiding optical radiation of specific wavelength and incidence angle. An electro-optical process for signal processing comprises supplying a guide layer (14) of a semiconductor component with optical radiation at a wavelength and incidence angle such that the guide layer and component assembly exhibits a specific absorption peak for guiding of the optical radiation in the guide layer.
