PURPOSE: A composition for absolute quantification of haptoglobin and a method for diagnosing cancer are provided to early diagnose and treat cancer. CONSTITUTION: A composition for measuring the concentration of haptoglobin in blood by absolute quantification contains a labeled peptide with an amino acid derived from alpha-chain of haptoglobin in blood. The peptide is selected from the group consisting of amino acids of sequence numbers 1-13. A kit for diagnosing cancer contains the composition. The kit additionally contains trypsin.
