PURPOSE: A circuit automatic switching apparatus and an operating method thereof are provided to perform a switching operation using an auxiliary circuit when there is a failure in a main circuit of a backhaul apparatus, thereby giving no effect on a service of a DU(Digital Unit) circuit. CONSTITUTION: A physical layer unit(12a) is disposed on one side of a first circuit failure discrimination unit(10) around a switch(13). A connector(11a) to be connected with a DU circuit is prepared on one side of the physical layer. A plurality of physical layer units(12b,12c) are prepared in the other side of the first circuit failure discrimination unit around the switch. The other side of the physical layer units a plurality of connectors(11b,11c) are prepared. A plurality of the connectors are connected with backhaul equipment.
