<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for use in surgery in the peritoneal cavity through a natural orifice. <P>SOLUTION: A system 300 for performing minimally invasive medical procedures through a natural orifice includes: an elongate support 102 advances in a flexible state through a natural orifice and through an incision in a body tissue into a body cavity. The elongate support is converted to a rigid state within the body cavity. The elongate support supports a frame 304 that carries a pair of tool cannulas 104, each of which has a lumen for receiving a tool useable to perform a procedure in the body cavity.
