PURPOSE: A hydrophilic nanoparticle, a colloidal solution, and an MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) contrast agent containing the same are provided to be applied to a bio-medical field and to ensure excellent dispersion stability. CONSTITUTION: A hydrophilic nanoparticle with a modified surface contains monosaccharide phosphoric acid or a derivative thereof attached on the surface of inorganic particles. The size of the hydrophilic nanoparticle is 1-200 nm. The organic particle is a metal, metal chalcogenide, metal oxide, a magnetic material, a magnetic alloy material, a semi-conductive material, or a multicomponent hybrid structure. The monosaccharide phosphoric acid is glucose-6-phosphate, fructose-6-phosphate, or mannose- 6-phosphate. A colloidal solution contains the hydrophilic nanoparticles dispersed in water. A contrast agent contains the colloidal solution. The contrast agent is an MRI T1 contrast agent or an MRI T2 contrast agent.
