Disclosed are methods of mitigating the effects on body and/or clothing fibers of exposure to chlorinating and/or brominating agents, such as those found in swimming pools, by treating the body and/or clothing fibers with an effective amount of ascorbic acid, salts, and/or derivatives thereof. Also disclosed are compositions comprising ascorbic acid, salts, and/or derivatives thereof, for use in treating body and/or clothing fibers to mitigate the effects on body and/or clothing fibers of exposure to chlorinating and/or brominating agents. |
