Disclosed is a discontinuous reception (DRX) method, comprising: a terminal receiving a DRX parameter, carrying a plurality of DRX cycles, configured and sent by a network side; and the terminal starting a DRX process according to the DRX parameter, and enabling a corresponding DRX Cycle at the time of running the DRX process. The present invention further provides a discontinuous reception system. According to the technical solution of the present invention, a terminal can better adapt to data sending demands at the time of running a DRX technology.
