PURPOSE: A lane recognizing device and a method thereof are provided to prevent lane recognition errors by detecting a double lane from candidate lanes. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(120) detects candidate lanes from captured images. The control unit detects a double lane from the detected candidate lanes. The control unit selects a first lane from the detected double lanes. The control unit selects a second lane which is adjacent to a vehicle from the candidate lanes except for the double lane.
