<p>PURPOSE: A movable robot system for mowing the grass and a method for controlling the same are provided to stop the operation of a mowing device when infrared rays are not detected by the detecting device, thereby preventing the operation of the mowing device outside a grass existing area. CONSTITUTION: A movable robot system(1) for mowing the grass comprises a body, a boundary indicating device(20), a detecting device(150), a mowing device(140), and a control unit(160). A moving device(120) is comprised in the body. The boundary indicating device includes an infrared ray irradiating unit(210). A grass existing area is marked by using infrared rays irradiated from the infrared ray irradiating unit. The detecting device is comprised in the body, thereby detecting the infrared rays. The control unit stops the operation of the mowing device when the infrared rays are not detected by the detecting device in moving.
