1300824 Magnetic heads MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 10 Feb 1970 [13 Feb 1969] 6350/70 Heading G5R A multitrack magnetic head is made by (a) joining two sintered core pieces 1, 2 with a pre determined gap 3, (b) grinding the pole faces 4, 4<SP>1</SP> to a contour more angled or convex than the intended operative surface, (c) bonding the assembly in a frame 6 having a bottom recess 5 complementary to the contour, (d) machining transverse grooves 7 in the cores and inserting shields 11 with spacers 10, and (e) guiding the cores, frame and shields to the desired surface. The operative surface so formed is bonded by arcs or planes so that a tape separates quickly from the magnetic circuit but not the operative surface to reduce low frequency distortion. The multitrack assembly may be subsequently divided into single track units. |
