Leather conditioning compsn - for improved permeability water vapour

Leather-conditioning compsns. which render the leather water-resistant and supple while retaining its permeability to gases esp. water-vapour, are improved by addition of >=1 branched chain org. cpd (I) esp >=15C alcohols or opt. HO-substd. acids or esters. (I) improves water-vapour permeability so reduces the probability that a person wearing e.g. leather boots will develop fungal infections of the feet. Some exemplified (I) are dihydrocitronellyl palmitate, 2-6-dimethyl lauric acid and 6-methylhexadecanol.
