A battery operated remote controlled uplighter 110 having a housing 120 comprising an LED light source, an LED light driver, and an aerial 180 for receiving radio frequency control signals. The aerial 180 is located on the top of the housing 120 and may be a dome aerial. The angle of illumination may be changed by pivoting a lens 160. A carry handle may be provided. Electrical connections for recharging the battery may be provided.
