It comprises a housing (2) closed by a cover (3) and having two chambers (5, 6) enclosing respectively a device (7) for protection against overloads or short-circuits and a magnetic contactor (8). A sub-housing (9) is moulded in one piece with the cover (3) and forms a site for receiving a magnetic control device (10). The device (8) comprises a conducting plate (11), another conducting plate (12) and a permanent magnet (13) harnessed to the plate (12) in order to tension it towards the closure of the contacts when an outside magnet (14) is brought near the housing (2). The control device (10) comprises a second magnet (85) carried by a manual control lever emerging from the sub-housing (9). The protection device (8) comprises a conducting plate (74), a bimetallic strip (75) and an electromagnet (76) which, when it attracts its movable armature (79), causes the upwards displacement of the magnet (79) and the downwards attraction of the magnet (85), the whole so as to lock the switch in the open position. <IMAGE>
