<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light irradiation device capable of controlling the irradiation range using a diffractive optical element, which is easily developed into multiple products and mass production. <P>SOLUTION: The light irradiation device includes: a light emitting element 1 of a light emitting diode; and a diffractive optical element 2 that allows a ray of light emitted from the light emitting element 1 to pass therethrough and controls the propagation direction of the light by diffraction. The diffractive optical element 2 is a diffraction diffuser which includes at least one basic grid 3 on which a grid pattern for diffracting the incident light ray is formed.
