PURPOSE: A Pseudomonas sp. for purifying and a method for decomposing and removing polychlorinated biphenyl are provided to purify and recover the environment polluted by biphenyl. CONSTITUTION: A composition for decomposing polychlorinated biphenyl is able to decompose polychlorinated biphenyl and has a base sequence of sequence number 1. The composition contains Pseudomonas sp. KM-04(deposit number KCTC 12090BP) as an active ingredient. The strain is isolated from soil polluted by polychlorinated biphenyl in an abandoned mine. The polychlorinated biphenyl contains a biphenyl structure. The strain decomposes biphenyl into DHB(dihydroxybiphenyl), HOPDA(2-hydroxy-6-oxo-6-phenylhexa-2,4-dienoic acid), and benzoic acid.
