<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element easy for handling, a manufacturing method for the same, and a manufacturing method for a light-assisted magnetic recording head using such the optical element. <P>SOLUTION: An optical element is utilized for a light-assisted magnetic recording head in which a light source is provided on a slider having an optical waveguide, and includes a holding part and a mirror part. The holding part is made of a bar-like member.
