<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization conversion device, a retardation film, and a projector with excellent credibility. <P>SOLUTION: A polarization conversion device includes a polarization separating section that separates incident light into first polarization in a first polarization state and second polarization in a second polarization state for emission, and a retardation layer that converts the first polarization emitted from the polarization separating section to the second polarization, in which the retardation layer includes a base material that transmits at least the first polarization, and plural needle-like particles that are dispersed in the base material so that their long-axis directions are oriented substantially in one direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
