PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED lighting device in which the conduction width of an LED element can be widened while controlling at a high speed.

SOLUTION: The LED lighting device 10 comprises: a rectifier element B1 which outputs a rectification voltage Vr between a first terminal T1 and a second terminal T2 by rectifying an AC voltage supplied from an AC power supply; a first LED element 11-1 having one end connected with the first terminal, a second LED element 11-2 having one end connected with the other end of the first LED element; and a current control unit 13 connected between the other end of the second LED element and the second terminal and controlling a current flowing through the first LED element or the second LED element; and a short circuit control unit 14 which short-circuits both ends of the second LED element when the rectification voltage is lower than a first determination voltage required for lighting the first LED element and second LED element.
