The invention relates to an individual cell (1) for a battery, comprising an electrode film stack (4) that is arranged in a housing made of two enveloping sheet metals (2, 3, 6, 7) and comprising a frame (5), by means of which the two enveloping sheet metals (2, 3, 6, 7) are electrically insulated from each other. Arrester lugs of electrode films of one polarity are connected to one another in order to form a pole contact (4.1, 4.2), and each pole contact (4.1, 4.2) is connected to an enveloping sheet metal (2, 3, 6, 7). Each enveloping sheet metal (2, 3, 6, 7) forms an electric pole of the individual cell (1). According to the invention, each of the arrester lugs of the same polarity is led out on one pole face (P1, P2) of the electrode film stack (4), and the arrester lugs are connected to one another into the pole contact (4.1, 4.2) in a central region of the pole face (P1, P2). The pole contacts (4.1, 4.2) are bent so as to be parallel to the pole face (P1, P2), in particular to half of the respective pole face (P1, P2), and connected to an enveloping sheet metal (2, 3, 6, 7).
