PURPOSE: A voice recognition system based on location information and a method thereof are provided to recognize a sentence intended by a user by recognizing a voice of the user by using dialect information or local intonation information. CONSTITUTION: A location identifying unit(110) determines a geographic location of a voice recognition terminal. A voice recognition unit(120) recognizes a voice of a user of the terminal through voice information corresponding to the geographic location. A voice information updating unit(140) updates the voice information based on one or more voice properties among frequency information of the recognized voice or sound source patterns.
