<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive electrostatic atomizer allowing variation of arrangement and configuration thereof while suppressing complexity. <P>SOLUTION: The electrostatic atomizer includes a spray portion, a spray electrode electrically connectable to the spray portion, a reference electrode and a power supply device. The reference electrode is disposed so that a substance to be electrostatically sprayed is sprayed from the spray portion when voltage is applied between the spray electrode and the reference electrode. The power supply device can apply voltage between the spray electrode and the reference electrode, monitor electrical properties of the spray portion, and control the voltage applied between the spray electrode and the reference electrode on the basis of the monitored electrical properties of the spray portion and a predetermined indication. In the electrostatic atomizer, the spray electrode and the reference electrode are arranged so that electric charges of the substance sprayed from the spray portion are equilibrated by generation of electric charge whose amount is at least the same as that of the electric charge of the substance and whose polarity is reverse to that of the electric charge of the substance at the reference electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
