An apparatus and a method for feeding back a CQI(Channel Quality Indicator) in a mobile communication system are provided to control uplink radio resources for CQI feedback effectively and to feed back CQI information selectively to increase system capacity. A base station for receiving CQI feedback information from a mobile terminal comprises an RoT(Rise over Thermal) measurement part(500), an RF part(502), and a control part(504). The RoT measurement part measures an RoT value to measure the power control and interference of the mobile terminal. The RF part receives a CQI from the mobile terminal, and transmits a TPR(Traffic to Pilot Ratio) command to the mobile terminal in order to control the CQI feedback of the mobile terminal. The control part compares the measured RoT value with a preset threshold, transmits the TPR command, and executes AMC(Adaptive Modulation and Coding) and channel sensitive scheduling on the basis of the received CQI. |
