PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent the slackening of a thermal transfer ribbon, by continuously rotating a take-up motor until the detachment of a thermal head from recording paper is completed and, after the completion of the detachment, stopping the rotation of said take-up motor and subsequently driving a carriage motor. CONSTITUTION:When the CL value of the moving amount of a carriage reaches a predetermined line terminal position or the recording LF command of one line is read, the CE value corresponding to release control and slackening removal is set to the counter in RAM102 and an exciting pulse is sent to a carriage motor 107 and a wind-up motor 110 and the CE value is counted down while the CL value is counted up and this operation is repeated until the CE value reaches a movement amount allowing a recording dot to depart from the pressure contact part of a thermal head. Next, the motor 107 is stopped and, when an exciting pulse is sent to the motor 110 and a head operating motor 109 and repeated until CE=0, the head 35 is instantaneously detached from a platen and subsequently rotated up to the home position of a cylindrical cam and the take-up motor 110 is rotated at said home position to remove the slackening of the transfer ribbon. |
