PURPOSE:To enable high quality recording imparting high density and having good ink breakage even on a recording medium inferior in surface smoothness, by setting pressing force by a recording head to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The ink 3 of a thermal transfer material 1 is closely adhered to a recording medium 5 of which the back surface is supported by a platen 4 and the pulse like heat is applied to said ink from the side of the support 2 of said transfer material 1 by a recording head 6 having heat generating parts 6a generating heat according to image information in a row and, at the time of heat application, the heat generating parts 6a of the recording head 6 are pressed to the support 2 by pressing force PH of 300-2,000gf/cm. By this constitution, the ink 3 heated according to an image pattern and brought to a semi-molten state is perfectly adhered even to the recording medium 5 inferior in surface smoothness by the large pressing force of the recording head 6 and a sharp image having good ink breakage can be transferred. |
