Drive mechanism for a speed meter, comprising an angled mounting (1), to one limb of which is connected a gear wheel (4) having a cam (5) welded to it, which picks up the movement of a wheel axle or other device of this type, the rotation being transmitted via an intermediate transmission (9) to a drive wheel (11) whose axle is at right angles to the axle of the intermediate transmission, and which is provided with an axial taper having a polygonal recess (15), in which a transfer element or cable is provided, and which rotates freely in a threaded sleeve on the drive side which is fastened in a stationary manner in a hole in the other limb of the mounting. The input-side wheel (4) having the cam (5) welded to it engages with an intermediate wheel (9), whose axle is parallel to the input-side wheel and which is connected to the limb, the rotational movement being transmitted to the drive wheel, which is provided with axial teeth. <IMAGE>
