<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed measuring method and a system therefor in which computing speed and measurement accuracy are improved in a speed measuring process, and a circuit occupation area and power consumption are reduced. <P>SOLUTION: In the speed measuring method and the system therefor, speed measuring/computing of a measured object is performed by using a distance value and a time value obtained by a distance measuring method and a time measuring method. The time value is obtained, using a clock mask synchronized with a reference signal and distance measurement operation, by obtaining the number of cycles of the reference signal under the clock mask and on the basis of the number of cycles, the time value during the distance measurement operation while the time value is corrected by using a plurality of phase shift signals generated on the basis of the reference signal and errors are more reduced with an increase of the number of phase shift signals, so that a correct time value during the distance measurement operation is obtained.
