An AC light emitting diode and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to enhance an upward emission efficiency of the light by preventing a light absorption of a substrate and reducing a total internal reflection of the light in a light emitting cell. An AC light emitting diode includes a light transmitting substrate(100), a plurality of light emitting cells and light reflecting portions. The plurality of light emitting cells(200) are spaced apart from each other on the substrate. The light reflecting portions(120) are protruded toward an upper surface of the substrate to improve an upward emission efficiency of the light. The light reflecting portion includes at least one dome type portion corresponding to each light emitting cell. |
