<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a better temperature balance in a cylinder block. <P>SOLUTION: In the cylinder block 2, a plurality of cylinder bores 11 are arranged in series in a block body 10, a water jacket 12 extending in an arrangement direction of the plurality of cylinder bores 11 is formed in the block body 10. The cylinder block includes: a cooling water inlet 14 disposed to one end 13 in the arrangement direction of the plurality of cylinder bores 11 in the block body 10 to lead cooling water into the water jacket 12; and a cooling water outlet 16 disposed to the other end 15 in the arrangement direction of the plurality of cylinder bores 11 in the block body 10 to discharge the cooling water from the water jacket 12.
