<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fluctuate a time until it is recognized that a symbol key is depressed in a long time according to a user to prevent any erroneous input accompanied by the long-time depression, and to reduce the mental burden of the user accompanied by the correcting operation of input content. <P>SOLUTION: A symbol input device includes: a plurality of symbol keys; a correction key for correcting the input symbol; a measurement part for measuring a time when the symbol key is depressed; an input acceptance part for recognizing that the symbol key and the correction key have been depressed to accept the input, for recognizing a time when the symbol key is depressed on the basis of the measurement of the measurement part, and for, when the time when the same symbol key is continuously depressed exceeds a predetermined long-time depression time, recognizing that the symbol key has been depressed in a long time to automatically accept the re-input of a symbol corresponding to the symbol key; and a storage part for storing the data.
