<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which has improved heat resistance and knocking resistance. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided an internal combustion engine in which: a combustion chamber NS is formed of a bottom surface 1a of a cylinder head 1, bottom surfaces of an intake valve 1e within an intake port 1c opened in the cylinder head 1 and of an exhaust valve 1d within an exhaust port 1b, a bore 2a of a cylinder block 2, and a top surface 3a of a piston 3 sliding inside the bore 2a; a heat insulation film is formed on a wall surface of each of members forming the combustion chamber NS; and between the intake piston and the exhaust piston on the bottom surface of the cylinder head, an ignition plug is positioned and opposed to the combustion chamber. With the ignition plug 4 as a boundary, the combustion chamber NS is partitioned into a region A<SB POS="POST">IN</SB>at a side of the intake valve and an region A<SB POS="POST">EX</SB>at a side of the exhaust valve. In such a case, a heat insulation performance of a heat insulation film 5a at least in a portion of the wall surface in the region A<SB POS="POST">IN</SB>at the intake valve side (e.g., on the top surface 3a of the piston 3) is higher than that of a heat insulation film 5b on the top surface 3a in the exhaust valve side region A<SB POS="POST">EX</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
