<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method which can efficiently generate a wide dynamic range image, to which pixel information about both high-sensitivity pixels and low-sensitivity pixels is applied. <P>SOLUTION: An output image having a wide dynamic range is output by: outputting, from a pixel unit, high-sensitivity pixel information that has pixel values of a plurality of high-sensitivity pixels added up, and low-sensitivity pixel information that has pixel values of a plurality of low-sensitivity pixels added up, as output image signals from pixels having different sensitivities; and determining output pixel values by composing this pixel information by a pixel information composing unit. The pixel information composing unit determines and outputs pixel values of the output image, by changing weights applied to the high-sensitivity pixel information or the low-sensitivity pixel information in accordance with brightness of a subject, for example, and executing weighted addition of the high-sensitivity pixel information and the low-sensitivity pixel information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
