<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a sound volume by appropriately determining whether an acoustic device is proximate to user's ear. <P>SOLUTION: An acceleration detection part 106 detects the acceleration of the acoustic device. A proximity determination part 107 determines whether there is a matter proximate to the speaker-installed surface of the acoustic device after the detected acceleration becomes equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold, thereby determining whether the acoustic device is proximate to the user's ear.
