PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and image forming method for easily forming an output image having a desired gradation characteristic.

SOLUTION: The image forming device employs an intermediate transfer system, and has a gradation correction unit that corrects the gradation on the basis of gradation correction data. An image forming unit is composed of a plurality of first image forming sections for forming color toner images on a photoreceptor, and second image forming sections arranged between the plurality of first image forming sections and forming transparent toner images on the photoreceptor. The first image forming sections form color toner images on an intermediate transfer body on the basis of image data with gradation corrected by the gradation correction unit, and thereafter the second image forming sections form transparent toner images superposing on the color toner images.
