<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce waste of a contact material in light of uneven abrasion occurring at a contact of a relay. <P>SOLUTION: In a contact of a relay, a stationary contact connected to a high potential side of a direct current circuit is significantly abraded, and abrasion length of the stationary contact connected to a low potential side of the direct current circuit is small. Therefore, before usage, length LF2 of the stationary contact connected to the low potential side of the direct current circuit is made shorter than length LF1 of the stationary contact connected to the high potential side. Thus, waste consumption of the contact material can be prevented. The contact on a side, on which the abrasion length is large, is longer than the contact on a side, on which the abrasion length is small in starting usage; is identical at a point of a half of a life; and is shorter than the contact on the side, on which the abrasion length is small in completing the life.
