PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to form a passivation layer and a pixel electrode at the same time by one mask process using a halftone mask. CONSTITUTION: A part of a first passivation layer(150) is removed to form a first contact hole(155). A common electrode(160) is formed on the pixel region of the first passivation layer. A second passivation layer(180) is formed on the first passivation layer. A part of the second passivation layer is removed to form a second contact hole(185). A pixel electrode(190) is formed in the first contact hole and the second contact hole.
