IC engine combustion air intake delivery evaluation for fuel injection control - using measured flow rate during separation between two intake strokes and previously calculated delivery

The air delivery evaluation system uses a mass flow sensor and an electronic control for calculating the delivery level from the delivery level for the preceding operating cycle and the measured mass flow-rate multiplied by the spacing between two suction strokes. Pref. the delivery level is calculated via an equation incorporating a constant representing the ratio between the air intake pipe volume and the volume of each engine cylinder. The electronic control pref. comprises a microcomputer loaded with a calculation program.
