<p>The method involves measuring temperature of a converter, and determining power output from a converter. A thermal model of the converter is operated with the output power as input power. The temperature of the converter is estimated by the thermal model of the converter based on the determined output power. The estimated temperature is compared with the measured temperature, and a monitoring signal is generated based on the comparison result of the estimated temperature with the measured temperature. A time constant for the thermal model is experimentally determined. An independent claim is also included for a monitoring device for thermal monitoring a converter for an electric motor of a vehicle.</p> |
