PURPOSE: A secondary power supplying device for a vehicle using in-wheel motor and a control method thereof are provided to minimize the increase in costs, and supply an auxiliary power for a vehicle by an in-wheel motor, wherein the auxiliary power is supplied by driving the in-wheel motor at a low speed only for the time of the initial acceleration performed. CONSTITUTION: A secondary power supplying device for a vehicle using in-wheel motor includes an in-wheel motor, a sub battery(26), an in-wheel switch(21), a control device(24), an inverter(25), and an electronic control switch(15). The in-wheel motor is mounted inside one wheel of the driven shaft of vehicle. The in-wheel motor supplies the rotatory power to the wheel depending on electricity supplied to the in-wheel motor. The sub battery is both chargeable and dischargeable, and supplies electricity to the in-wheel motor. A driver selects whether the in-wheel switch uses the auxiliary power by the in-wheel motor or not. The control device checks the charging level of the sub battery to control the charging level of the sub battery to exceed the threshold. The inverter uses the power source of the sub battery to generate the driving current. The electronic control switch forms the current path from the main battery(14) of a vehicle to the sub battery.
