An installation (12) for coating items, in particular vehicle bodies (14), and curing the coating with electromagnetic radiation, comprises an application cubicle (16), which predefines an application chamber (20), arranged in which is an application device (38), by means of which the item (14) can be coated with a material which can be cured by electromagnetic radiation. A drying cubicle (56) comprises a radiation device (92) and predefines a drying chamber (72), to which inert gas can be fed by means of an inert gas device (86, 87, 87a). The item (14) can be conveyed through the application chamber (20) and the drying chamber (72) by means of a conveying system (32). The application chamber (20) is arranged at a first height level and the drying chamber (72) is arranged at a second height level, which is different from the first height level. The conveying system (32) comprises a lifting/lowering device (34, 36, 40), by which the item (14) can be conveyed with a vertical movement component out of the application chamber (20) into the drying chamber (72). |
