<p>In an elevator apparatus, a car and first and second counterweights are raised and lowered inside a hoistway. A pair of car guide rails for guiding raising and lowering of the car are installed inside the hoistway. The car has mutually opposite first and second side surface portions. The car guide rails are installed so as to face the first and second side surface portions. The first and second counterweights are disposed in front of the car guide rails relative to a depth direction of the car. A first hoisting machine is disposed directly above the first counterweight. A second hoisting machine is disposed directly above the second counterweight.</p> |
