<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device with reduced component parts, a small size, and a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: A power conversion device includes: an inverter circuit 14 connected to a subsequent stage of an AC power supply 1; a smoothing capacitor 22 connected to a subsequent stage of the inverter circuit 14 via a rectifier element 20; a charge switch 2 connected to a pre-stage of the inverter circuit 14, inputting the amount of electricity based on an output of the AC power supply 1 at the time of on state, and disconnecting an input of the amount of electricity to the inverter circuit 14 at the time of off state; and a rush-current protection circuit 7 having a rush-current protection switch 3 and a rush-current protection resistor 4 connected in series to a subsequent stage of the rush-current protection switch 3.
